This internship is with SOFWERX, a unique venue operating under an agreement between the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and DefenseWERX. Its primary mission is to foster collaboration and innovation to address complex challenges faced by warfighters. SOFWERX serves as a hub for accelerating the delivery of innovative capabilities and refining existing technologies through exploration, experimentation, and assessment. It is located in Ybor City, Tampa, FL.
The internship program itself is administered by the USF Institute of Applied Engineering (USF IAE). Upon hiring, interns are considered both a USF IAE Temporary Employee and a SOFWERX student intern.

Job Description
This is a Videography Internship for Spring 2026 located in Tampa, FL, United States.
Role Overview:
The intern will contribute to SOFWERX’s mission by capturing and producing high-quality video content that expands their ecosystem, communicates technical and operational goals, and supports outreach. The role also involves critical market research to identify innovative capabilities for warfighter solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Video Capture: Photograph high-quality video footage of events, experiments, demonstrations, and interviews.
• Video Editing & Production: Edit and produce professional video content for internal and external communication channels, including social media, presentations, and promotional materials.
• Visual Storytelling: Collaborate with project teams to develop compelling visual storytelling concepts that effectively communicate technical and operational goals.
• Media Management: Organize and manage media assets, ensuring consistent file naming, tagging, and archiving practices.
• Technical Support: Assist with lighting, sound, and camera setup for both studio and field shoots.
• Post-Production: Support post-production efforts, which include color correction, motion graphics, creating captions, and sound mixing.
• Content Creation: Create shorts, reels, and visual recaps specifically for outreach and engagement purposes.
• Market Research: Actively participate in weekly market research and submit a minimum number of entries for new capabilities, technologies, companies, or organizations that could contribute innovative ideas for warfighter solutions.
Time Commitment:
• Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Semesters:
• Fall/Spring: A minimum of 15 hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week.
• Summer: A minimum of 20 hours and a maximum of 29 hours per week.
• Location: Primarily an in-person position with limited remote work opportunities.

Pay Rate:
The pay rate for this internship is $17.00 per hour.
Qualifications (Requirements):
• Security Clearance Eligibility: Must be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
• Academic Enrollment: Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited local university.
• Academic Level: Must be a Junior or Senior level student.
• GPA: Current GPA of 3.0 or above is required.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in videography, cinematography, or multimedia production.
• Technical Skills: Strong technical understanding of camera operation, lighting, and audio recording.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
• Soft Skills: Excellent storytelling, communication, and organizational skills.
• Market Research: Must participate in weekly market research and submit minimum required entries for new capabilities, technologies, companies, organizations, etc., that could contribute innovative ideas for warfighter solutions.
