Vice President Client Accounting | Maples Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Maples Group, located in Hong Kong, Hong Kong. Maples Group is a global leader in financial services, trusted by many of the world’s largest hedge fund managers, private equity firms, and international corporations. This position plays a crucial role in overseeing a team responsible for delivering essential accounting, financial reporting, and administration services to a diverse range of financial services clients. The Vice President will contribute significantly to maintaining client satisfaction and operational excellence within a collaborative, global team environment.

• Team: Oversees a team of qualified client-facing accountants and reports to the Global Head of Client Accounting and the Global Head of Fiduciary Services.
• Mission: Manages a team that delivers accounting, financial reporting, and administration services to a variety of financial services clients.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Management: Lead a team in delivering comprehensive accounting, financial reporting, and administration services to various financial services clients, including structured finance vehicles, trusts, and investment funds.
• Client Engagement: Respond to inquiries from prospective clients and prepare detailed proposals for new business opportunities.
• System Development: Participate in the ongoing development and maintenance of robust accounting and control systems within the firm.
• Operational Oversight: Supervise and manage various operational and administrative tasks on behalf of clients, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a university degree, with a preference for economics, accounting, finance, or business administration. Additionally, candidates must have completed an internationally recognised accounting designation such as CA, CPA, ACA, or ACCA, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience: A minimum of six years of post-qualification experience is required, gained from working with a top-tier accounting and audit firm. This experience must include providing services primarily to clients within the financial services industry. Demonstrated experience in preparing complex accounting and financial statements, along with detailed disclosure notes, for structured finance vehicles, investment funds, and private equity vehicles is essential.
• Skills: Essential skills include an in-depth understanding of HKFRS and IFRS, with a proven ability to determine and prepare the necessary note disclosures accurately. Candidates must exhibit attention to detail, strong professionalism, excellent organizational skills, and a team-first mentality. Experience with relationship management and client service is also crucial, alongside the ability to be a self-starter who can effectively manage a diverse workload. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are required, complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. A good working knowledge of accounting and/or financial statement preparation software is necessary for this role.
• Bonus: Fluency in Mandarin/Chinese is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate smooth collaboration with both internal teams and external parties.
