Job Description

They are seeking a Vice President and Senior Counsel with at least 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. The Senior Counsel is responsible for delivering quality Legal Administration services to assigned clients and must be able to independently manage client relationships. They must work independently with minimal management direction from the Department Head, possess expertise in 1940 Act issues, and have a strong understanding of the legal, business, distribution, marketing, and structural issues facing mutual fund clients.

This role can be located in Sacramento, Irvine, Austin, Kansas City or Berwyn.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

• Keeping current with legal developments, coordinating communication to clients, and proactively applying them to clients’ situations.
• Serving as a mentor or developer of less experienced colleagues.
• Leading the resolution of complex client or internal legal issues, issues with potential liability to State Street, and difficult client service issues. Bringing such issues to senior management and resolving them with input from more senior management.
• Providing support to sales professionals, financial administration personnel, making presentations to potential clients, researching and preparing memoranda on general industry issues, and/or participating in seminars and conferences.
• Providing effective legal support to the Financial Administration Department and/or Transfer agency group on contractual, operational, compliance, and other issues.
