The team consists of one full-time veterinarian, three part-time veterinarians, and a few very skilled support staff. Job description:
This opportunity is for a student externship at Friendship Veterinary Hospital, specifically for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education. The externship typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain comprehensive experience in various aspects of veterinary medicine. Key responsibilities and learning opportunities include:
• Gathering patient histories
• Performing physical exams
• Creation of treatment plans
• Engaging in diagnostics
• Participating in dentistry services
• Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures
• Involved in medical management of patients
In addition to developing clinical skills, student externs will have the valuable opportunity to practice and enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
