Job Description:
This externship provides veterinary students with hands-on experience and mentorship. Students will work closely with a supervising veterinarian to gain experience in:
• Gathering patient histories
• Performing physical exams
• Creating treatment plans
• Diagnostics
• Dentistry services
• Observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures
• Medical management of patients
In addition to clinical skills, externs will practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship Details:
• Duration: Typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
• Eligibility: Open to veterinary students in their final year of veterinary school.
• Stipend: Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Animal Hospital of Newport Hills is $1,500.
