Job Description

Externship Opportunity:

Towne North Animal Hospital offers externship opportunities for veterinary students to gain practical experience and knowledge in a real-world veterinary setting.

Key Responsibilities:

As an extern at Towne North Animal Hospital, students will:

• Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians.
• Gain experience in gathering patient histories.
• Perform physical examinations.
• Participate in the creation of treatment plans.
• Assist with diagnostics.
• Observe and participate in dentistry services.
• Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures.
• Participate in the medical management of patients.
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship Details:

Duration: Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
Eligibility: All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Stipend: Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend up to $2500 for the 2025 clinical year.
Travel Stipend 2025: Up to $2500 travel stipend available for 2025 clinical year externships.
