Job Description
This externship at PetZen Animal Wellness offers veterinary students a distinctive opportunity to immerse themselves in the daily operations of a veterinary practice, with a strong emphasis on holistic medicine and acupuncture. Students will gain valuable, hands-on clinical experience under the guidance of experienced Associate Veterinarians.
Key responsibilities and learning opportunities include:
• Patient Care: Gathering patient histories, performing physical examinations, and contributing to the creation of treatment plans.
• Diagnostics: Participating in various diagnostic procedures to aid in patient assessment.
• Dentistry Services: Gaining exposure to and assisting with dental procedures.
• Surgery: Observing, assisting, or potentially performing surgical procedures, depending on experience and comfort level.
• Medical Management: Participating in the medical management of patients, learning to monitor and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Communication: Practicing communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients, enhancing the ability to effectively convey information and build rapport.
• Holistic Medicine Focus: Experience with integrating holistic and acupuncture approaches to patient care.
The externship duration typically ranges from two to eight weeks, dependent on the student’s and hospital’s schedules.
Eligibility: All veterinary students (regardless of class year) with an interest in holistic medicine and acupuncture are encouraged to apply.
