About the Job
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers a unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of a veterinary practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they all share a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Job Description
During the externship, students will:
• Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians.
• Gain experience in:
• Gathering patient histories
• Performing physical exams
• Creating treatment plans
• Diagnostics
• Dentistry services
• Observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures
• Medical management of patients.
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship Details for Casper Animal Medical Center:
• Duration: Typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
• Eligibility: Designed for 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students.
Stipend Information:
• Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
