Roadside Veterinary Clinic is offering an externship opportunity for a Vet Tech Student Extern.
Overview of the Role:
This externship focuses on supporting clinical operations. The Vet Tech Extern will assist with patient care, perform routine technical tasks, and observe advanced medical procedures under supervision. The role involves direct interaction with veterinary teams, contributing to diagnostic and treatment processes, and gaining practical, hands-on experience within a professional veterinary setting.

This externship is specifically for veterinary technician students who are currently enrolled in an AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) accredited Veterinary Technician program.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Vet Tech Student Extern include:
• Assisting credentialed veterinary technicians and veterinarians during clinical procedures.
• Observing and actively participating in the care of a diverse range of medical cases.
• Supporting daily clinical operations, which encompasses patient intake, treatment administration, and discharge processes.
• Collaborating effectively with various veterinary team members, including veterinary assistants, hospital managers, and specialists.
• Adhering strictly to clinical protocols and safety procedures within the veterinary environment.
• Engaging in mentorship and training sessions designed to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
• Completing all assigned tasks and responsibilities as directed by the supervising technician or hospital manager.
• Providing constructive feedback through a post-externship survey to contribute to program improvement.
• Performing other duties as assigned that fall within the nature and level of the externship work.
Qualifications:
Candidates interested in this externship must meet the following qualifications:
• Must be currently enrolled in an AVMA CVTEA-accredited Veterinary Technician/Nursing program.
• Must be eligible to participate in an externship as a requirement of their academic program.
• Possess strong communication skills, enabling clear and effective interaction with team members and clients.
• Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills, contributing positively to a collaborative environment.
• Exhibit a willingness to learn new skills and adapt quickly to the demands of a fast-paced clinical environment.
Physical Requirements:
The role entails certain physical demands, including:
• The ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
