Job Description:

Venture Studio Internship – Health2047

This is an 8-12 week hybrid internship located in Menlo Park, CA, designed for medical students interested in early-stage innovation, new venture creation, and the intersection of entrepreneurship and investment in healthcare. The intern will gain firsthand exposure to how ideas become companies, how markets are explored and validated, and how the studio supports its portfolio after launch.

The intern will have the opportunity to work on either the venture formation side, the portfolio support side, or both, depending on their interests and availability.

Venture Formation: Observe and contribute to how the studio identifies and evaluates new opportunities, from emerging market trends to founder and concept fit.
Portfolio Support: Support internal investment activities and portfolio-facing projects, deepening their understanding of how early-stage companies are assessed, tracked, and supported post-launch.

The intern will work closely with various members of the leadership team, providing mentorship and exposing the intern to the decision-making and strategic priorities that shape new ventures from idea to execution. This experience is ideal for someone curious about the venture ecosystem, eager to build analytical and operational skills, and excited by the pace and ambiguity of early-stage innovation. Applicants must be currently enrolled in medical school.

Responsibilities:

Opportunity Sourcing & Venture Operations:
• Conduct high-level assessments of inbound sourcing opportunities, including market research, competitive landscape reviews, and preliminary market sizing, to help triage and prioritize ideas.
• Support the venture team’s sourcing workflow by maintaining opportunity trackers and organizing internal research libraries and materials.
• Assist with mapping out competitors in a given market to help identify gaps and areas where new solutions could stand out.

Portfolio Support & Internal Investment Analysis:
• Contribute to research for specific company needs (e.g., competitive analysis, partnership strategy, or pricing models).
• Assist with special projects that align with a portfolio company’s strategic goals, such as go-to-market planning, operational improvements, or fundraising prep.
• Assist in gathering, updating, and analyzing key data points across the portfolio (e.g., revenue, burn rate, and fundraising status) to support internal valuation models and performance benchmarking.

Requirements:

• Applicants must be currently enrolled in medical school.
• Must reside in California, Illinois, or New York.

Compensation:

• This is a part-time, paid internship requiring approximately 20–28 hours per week.
• Pay is between $30 to $40 per hour depending on level of experience.
• This is a hybrid position, requiring 4 days a month in the Menlo Park, CA office.
• Approved expenses for travel to the Menlo Park office 4 times a month will be covered.
