Job Description: Venture Capital Analyst
This role provides hands-on experience in venture capital and investment management. The successful candidate will assist in all aspects of the investment process, from identifying and evaluating opportunities to executing investment strategies and monitoring portfolio companies. This is a chance to work closely with experienced professionals and contribute to a forward-thinking organization.
Responsibilities:
• Investment Sourcing and Evaluation: Support the identification and evaluation of high-potential investment opportunities aligned with Niterra’s strategic objectives. Assist in building and maintaining a robust pipeline of potential investments in targeted technology sectors.
• Due Diligence: Contribute to due diligence processes, conducting financial analysis, market assessments, and risk evaluations.
• Financial Modeling: Develop and refine financial models, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis, sensitivity analyses, and multi-scenario projections, under mentorship.
• Portfolio Company Monitoring: Track the performance of portfolio companies by collecting operational data and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs). Prepare data-driven performance reports and craft compelling investment narratives for executive-level decision-making.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with team members and internal stakeholders to address strategic and operational challenges of portfolio companies. Foster relationships with entrepreneurs, industry partners, and investors to enhance Niterra’s investment network.
• Special Projects: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability by contributing to special projects as assigned by management.
• Skill Development: Gain expertise in fund-of-funds modeling, capital efficiency assessments, return on invested capital (ROIC) scenarios, and legal concepts (term sheets, cap tables, exit strategies).
Qualifications:
• Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or a related field (MBA candidates are welcome).
• Demonstrated interest in venture capital, entrepreneurship, or technology-driven industries (through coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular activities).
• Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize data into clear insights.
• Basic understanding of valuation techniques (e.g., DCF, Comparable Company Analysis, precedent transactions) and familiarity with three-statement financial models.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Slides/Sheets, and Adobe Acrobat. Willingness to learn CRMs like Affinity or Airtable.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including crafting investment rationales and reports for executives.
• Experience in multinational or cross-cultural environments, with a strong interest in learning Japanese business practices. Fluency in Japanese is highly desirable.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Physical and Travel Requirements: Normal office environment with extensive computer use, meetings, and occasional travel.
Training and Supervision: On-the-job training, seminars, and reporting to the Managing Partner.
