The Tone:
This is a full-time role located within DriveTime Family of Brands’ reconditioning centers across the nation. DriveTime is the largest privately owned used car sales, finance, and servicing company, dedicated to creating opportunities and putting customers in the right vehicle. This Vehicle Maintenance Technician position is crucial for preparing the company’s pre-owned inventory for customers by performing essential vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks. The role combines technical skills with precise documentation and inventory management, directly contributing to DriveTime’s transparent approach and customer satisfaction.

• Mission: This person ensures DriveTime’s pre-owned vehicle inventory is expertly maintained, repaired, and accurately documented, ready for customer acquisition.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Repairs: Perform basic maintenance and necessary repairs on inventory vehicles to prepare them for sale.
• Testing: Conduct required emissions testing and state inspections where applicable to ensure vehicle compliance.
• Communication: Clearly explain automotive repair issues to management to minimize re-work and prevent production delays.
• Documentation: Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all performed work within DriveTime’s internal systems.
• Operations: Assist with vehicle movement and inventory management as needed to support reconditioning center flow.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A High School Diploma or GED is required. Candidates must be proficient in basic automotive repair and possess a foundational understanding of vehicle maintenance.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of equivalent work experience in automotive repair is necessary. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Skills: Proficient in basic automotive repair, capable of operating basic computer systems for documentation and diagnostics, organized and punctual with strong time management skills, and possessing good communication skills for effective information sharing with leadership.
• Bonus: A Certificate or Associate’s degree in automotive technology is a strong asset, serving as an alternative to the 2 years of work experience.
