VAPT Intern (Information Security) | CyberTimes

The Tone:
This is an entry-level internship position at CyberTimes, located on-site in Delhi. CyberTimes focuses on strengthening digital defenses and ensuring robust information security for its clients. As a VAPT Intern, you will play a foundational role in this mission by contributing directly to identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities across various IT environments. This position is vital for maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information systems against evolving cyber threats, providing a critical first line of defense.

What You’ll Actually Do
Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing: Actively assist senior team members in conducting comprehensive vulnerability scans and performing penetration testing across diverse IT infrastructures, including corporate networks and cloud environments, to proactively uncover potential weaknesses.
Risk Identification and Reporting: Provide crucial support in the detailed process of identifying, meticulously analyzing, and accurately reporting discovered security risks and exposures to relevant stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of potential threats.
Application Security Assessments: Help to execute security assessments specifically targeting web and mobile applications, with a particular focus on identifying and addressing common vulnerabilities outlined in the OWASP Top 10 framework.
System Hardening and Log Analysis: Participate hands-on in critical system hardening initiatives aimed at securing operating systems and applications, and contribute to log analysis activities to detect anomalous behavior and potential security incidents.
Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning to understand and apply industry-recognized security best practices and methodologies under the direct guidance and mentorship of experienced security professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should be currently pursuing or have recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity, indicating a foundational academic understanding of core concepts.
• Experience: This role is designed for individuals with 0-1 year of experience in the cybersecurity domain, possessing a fundamental grasp of networking principles, specifically TCP/IP, and practical awareness of the OWASP Top 10 web application security risks.
• Skills: Demonstrated familiarity with essential security testing tools and operating systems, including Kali Linux for penetration testing, Burp Suite for web application analysis, Nmap for network scanning, Nessus for vulnerability scanning, and Wireshark for network protocol analysis.
• Bonus: A Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification is considered a preferred qualification, indicating a formalized understanding of ethical hacking techniques and methodologies.
