Job Description: Valuation Intern

KPMG’s Valuation professionals provide clients with robust and informed guidance on valuation matters across various sectors, deal stages, and business needs. They determine fair (market) value for equity shares, assets, or complex financial instruments for purposes such as mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, tax, and other regulatory standards.

As a Valuation Intern, you will:

Analyze industry dynamics and financial conditions of peer companies: This involves evaluating business plans, adjusting financial statements, and building financial models.
Participate in due diligence activities for mergers and acquisitions: This includes tasks like public-company purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment measurement, international restructurings, and private-company fairness opinions.
Research, analyze, and communicate key qualitative and quantitative factors: This includes analyzing data and preparing documentation for financial reporting, tax, and other business purposes.
Utilize various data analysis and visualization tools: You’ll work with MS Excel, MS Access, MS Power BI, Alteryx, and similar tools.
Prepare proposals, executive presentations, memos, and valuation reports: These will detail your methodologies, inputs, and assumptions.
Develop capabilities in key technologies: You will gain experience with AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and more.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics, or equivalent.
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Coursework or minor in Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Data and Analytics is preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of finance, financial statement analysis, quantitative and competitive analysis, building complex financial models, and efficiently manipulating data.
Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access, Power BI), Alteryx, Tableau, artificial intelligence (AI), and similar data analysis and visualization tools.
Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
Flexible and adaptable team player with a resourceful approach to delivering high-quality work.
Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to work locations using personal transportation or public transportation.
Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship.
