Level Up – UX Designer & Researcher Internship

Role Overview:

We are seeking a UX Designer & Researcher who will champion user-centered design across our project teams. This pivotal role blends research, design, and collaboration to ensure our products are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with real user needs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams (product, development, and marketing) to transform insights into impactful design solutions that drive successful MVP launches. Please note, this is currently an unpaid internship.

Key Responsibilities:

User Research & Insights

• Plan and conduct comprehensive user research, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitive analysis.
• Synthesize research findings into actionable insights, detailed personas, and user journey maps.
• Act as a strong advocate for user needs throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
• Continuously gather feedback to validate design decisions and drive continuous improvement of the user experience.

UX Design & Prototyping

• Create professional wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using industry-standard tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
• Design intuitive and accessible interfaces that seamlessly align with both user needs and business goals.
• Iterate designs effectively based on research insights, testing results, and valuable stakeholder feedback.
• Maintain robust design consistency through the development and application of style guides and design systems.

Collaboration & Product Alignment

• Partner closely with product managers, developers, and marketing teams to collaboratively define user requirements and the overarching product vision.
• Translate complex concepts into user-friendly and easily understandable experiences.
• Actively participate in sprint planning, design reviews, and product discussions to ensure design feasibility and strategic alignment.
• Work closely with developers to ensure the accurate and high-quality implementation of designs.

Usability Testing & Optimization

• Conduct structured usability testing sessions and meticulously analyze user behavior to identify pain points and areas for improvement.
• Recommend data-driven improvements to significantly enhance user satisfaction and engagement.
• Monitor key product performance metrics and iterate designs accordingly to achieve optimal results.

Mentorship & Design Culture

• Guide interns and early-career designers on core UX principles, research methodologies, and best practices.
• Foster a vibrant culture of empathy, experimentation, and continuous learning within the team.
• Provide constructive and actionable feedback during design critiques and reviews.

Qualifications:

Required

• Demonstrable experience in UX design, user research, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of human-centered design principles and usability best practices.
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, essential for presenting design concepts and research insights effectively.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and remote work environment.

Preferred

• Experience with usability testing tools (e.g., Maze, UserTesting).
• Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar).
• Experience working in startups, innovation labs, or mentorship programs.
• Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
