The Tone:
This is a full-time, temporary internship at Upbound Group, located in Plano, TX. Upbound Group is a technology and data-driven leader focused on accessible and inclusive financial solutions for underserved consumers, operating brands like Acima, Brigit, and Rent-A-Center. This role offers an immersive experience within the Accounting Organization, providing a comprehensive opportunity to grow professionally through rotations in corporate accounting, financial reporting, tax, and internal audit. You will gain a well-rounded understanding of key financial functions and contribute to critical processes that support the company’s operations.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Temporary (Ten-week program)
• Location: In-person, Plano, TX
• Pay: $23 hourly
• Team: Accounting Organization, rotating through Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Tax, and Internal Audit functions.
• Mission: To support the Accounting Organization by performing general ledger activities, contributing to financial statement preparation, assisting with income taxes and audit reviews, and working on ad hoc projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare and record journal entries in the general ledger by compiling and analyzing supporting data.
• Financial Analysis: Develop and analyze ad hoc financial reports to meet reporting needs.
• Closing Procedures: Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly financial closing procedures.
• SEC Filings: Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports for external SEC filings.
• Audit and SOX Support: Assist with audit reviews and SOX control process and validation procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional pursuing an Accounting degree, with an expected graduation between May 2027 and May 2028.
• Experience: No specific years of prior professional experience required; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
