The organization believes that everyone should be able to access their civic and activist potential. Since 2019, TurnUp has successfully registered and turned out over 500,000 young voters. The team is comprised of mission-driven young people from all around the United States.

Job Description

This is an unpaid remote internship or volunteer opportunity designed for young individuals looking to amplify youth civic engagement and participate in activism on various progressive and social justice issues.

Role Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role is to amplify youth civic engagement and participation in activism on critical progressive/social justice issues such as climate change, racial justice, reproductive rights, ending gun violence, and combating voter suppression in the United States. Interns will work to strengthen democracy and foster civic responsibility among young people.

Key Responsibilities and Activities:
• Work in teams to participate in grassroots activism and advocacy on civic and social justice issues.
• Conduct research to become better educated and aware about these topics.
• Join and actively help with existing voter registration drives at their schools.
• Initiate and perform their own voter registration efforts (peer-to-peer or running a drive with school permission) if one doesn’t exist at their school.
• Collaborate on a variety of tasks and communicate regularly with team members.
• Attend virtual weekly meetings with the team.
• Participate in civic actions and work on voter turnout projects.
• Perform targeted outreach, engage in advocacy and activism.
• Find and participate in volunteer opportunities together.
• Attend the TurnUp Speaker Series.
• Engage in civic and activism-related research and writing.
• Advocate for issues important to young people, fight voter suppression, and boost youth voter turnout in the United States.

Required Commitment:
Hours Per Week: Flexible, ranging from 5 to 30+ hours, chosen by the intern.
Start Date: Flexible.
End Date: Flexible.

Location: Remote.
Compensation: This is an unpaid position.
