About the Company:

The United Nations Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (UNODET) was established on January 1, 2025. It’s a department within the United Nations, working to advise senior UN leadership on technology trends, advocate for digital cooperation, facilitate policy dialogues, strengthen system-wide coordination on digital technologies, and support the implementation of the Global Digital Compact and the Secretary-General’s vision on digital cooperation. UNODET works closely with various UN entities and multi-stakeholder groups to leverage technology for progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while mitigating risks. Job Description:

UNODET offers internship opportunities across four tracks:

Track 1: Policy Analysis and Assessment: This track involves monitoring and analyzing global trends (geographic, political, thematic), researching and formulating policy options, and preparing analytical reports and papers. Required skills include strong analytical and research abilities.

Track 2: Analytics: This track focuses on data-related tasks such as preparing data models and surveys, developing dashboards and visualizations, performing data mining and optimization, and conducting text analysis. Required skills include proficiency in data analysis techniques and visualization tools.

Track 3: Communication and Design: This track involves designing visual identities, preparing content for various communications materials (briefings, presentations, etc.), and developing websites. Required skills include graphic design, web development, and content creation skills.

Track 4: Programme Management and Administration: This track supports the programme management team in project development and implementation, data collection and analysis, and financial reporting. Required skills include experience in project management and administrative tasks.

Job Details:

Location: In-person in New York or remote.
Duration: 2-6 months.
Start Date: Spring/Summer 2025.
Compensation: The internship is unpaid. Interns are responsible for their travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.
Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program, in the final year of a university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level), or have graduated with a relevant degree. Specific degree requirements vary by track (see detailed qualifications above).
Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is advantageous.
Visa: For internships in the USA, non-US citizens need to secure a G4 visa or other appropriate visa and work authorization (CPT/OPT/AT).
