Universal Banker
The Universal Banker position is an all-encompassing role that demands a versatile teammate dedicated to delivering best-in-class customer experience, comprehensive sales/service solutions, and efficient teller transactions. This role is crucial in fostering positive customer relationships by clearly communicating the benefits of Atlantic Union Bank’s products and services.
Position Accountabilities
Customer Experience & Sales Excellence
- Create lasting customer loyalty through needs-based conversations, ensuring a truly differentiated customer experience.
- Drive proactive sales conversations through a variety of channels, including internal and external interactions, outbound calling, service-to-sales initiatives, teller interactions, and appointment setting.
- Acquire new customers through focused prospecting efforts while simultaneously maintaining and deepening existing customer relationships.
- Leverage strong individual sales/referral skills to identify and successfully close sales opportunities, directly contributing to personal and branch sales goals.
- Promote the branch’s overall growth through both the development of new customers and the retention of existing ones.
- Review individual performance via scorecards and other resources, making necessary adjustments to consistently meet sales performance goals.
Digital Engagement & Education
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of Atlantic Union Bank’s products, services, and offerings across all lines of business.
- Achieve proficiency in digital channel technology and effectively educate customers on their use (e.g., Zoom, Appointment Scheduler Tool, DocuSign, GRO, Online Banking, Mobile Banking, ATM Banking).
Financial Solutions & Support
- Uncover and provide tailored solutions for customer lending needs.
- Serve as a primary contact for customer problem resolution concerning deposit, credit, and other products and services.
Operational Efficiency & Compliance
- Perform essential teller functions and manage cash transactions accurately.
- Balance cash daily with precision.
- Adhere strictly to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with Atlantic Union Bankshares’ BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.
- Manage risk effectively through adherence to all established policies and procedures, demonstrating sound judgment within defined limits.
- Perform complex branch operational duties as assigned.
- Ensure that all required training is successfully completed.
- Execute other duties as assigned to support branch operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with other lines of business (e.g., Mortgage, Investments, Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Merchant Services, Treasury Management) to identify and refer customer needs, ensuring comprehensive solutions.
Organizational Relationship
This position reports directly to the assigned leader of the branch.
Position Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Possess or be able to obtain an NMLS registration.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in banking or financial services is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience developing customer relationships, achieving sales/production goals, and building referral sources is preferred.
- Previous cash handling experience is preferred.
- Teller experience is strongly preferred.
- Customer service experience is required.
- Lending experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent customer service skills.

- Ability to exercise sound business judgment.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Shifts may vary for each position offering, depending on business needs.

Compensation & Benefits
The salary offered for this position will be based on several factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. This role is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan or a discretionary profit-sharing bonus program.
