Job Description: Undergraduate Research & Development Co-op

This co-op program offers students the chance to contribute to projects of significant strategic and/or operating importance to Thermo Fisher Scientific. Projects are matched to student abilities and current business needs. Responsibilities may include:

Process Improvement: Partnering with leadership to identify and address areas for efficiency improvement, benchmarking against industry best practices, becoming a process owner, critically reviewing processes, and proactively recommending improvements. This includes learning and applying continuous improvement methodologies (PPI, Six Sigma, etc.).
Compliance and Regulations: Adhering to all company safety, training, and quality regulations (ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.).
Research and Development: Executing experimental plans, analyzing data, contributing to technical reports and product summaries, investigating new methods/technologies, maintaining accurate lab notebooks to protect intellectual property, and working collaboratively with other departments (Business Development, Quality, Operations, Technical Services, Marketing) in new product commercialization.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate student pursuing an Engineering or Life Sciences-related degree.
• 0 years of work experience required; previous related internships preferred.
• Demonstrated track record of integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity.
• Ability to champion change, drive results, and navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and high emotional intelligence.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship. (F-1, J-1, H-1, OPT, and CPT visas are not accepted for this purpose).

Compensation:

• hourly rate between $21.50 – $28.75, depending on location and cost of living.
$5,000 relocation stipend if the student lives more than 50 miles from the co-op location.
• In New York, the hourly pay range is estimated at $21.00–$25.00.
• Potential for a variable annual bonus based on performance.
