Undergraduate Project Development Intern (Summer 202X)

About the Role

Cypress Creek Renewables (CCR) is seeking motivated undergraduate candidates for a 12-week, paid internship to join our dynamic Project Development team. This team is at the forefront of managing the full lifecycle of solar and storage projects, from initial site selection and acquisition through multi-year development phases.

This internship is designed for rising seniors who are eager to immerse themselves in the intricacies of the current US solar and storage landscape. You will play a crucial role in supporting Cypress Creek’s expanding solar and storage development platform. Our Development team is committed to fostering the growth of our interns, with a strong aspiration for this opportunity to culminate in a full-time offer upon graduation.

Key Responsibilities & Sample Projects

As an Undergraduate Project Development Intern, your contributions will be varied and impactful. Sample projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Perform due diligence on prospective greenfield development and project acquisition opportunities, including analysis of queue positions, transmission rights, regulatory/permitting processes, and development statuses.
  • Support a project’s development lifecycle through internal and external team collaboration. This may involve engaging with utilities, municipalities, environmental professionals, legal counsel, engineers, and external EPCs to successfully add value to development assets.
  • Streamline and/or automate development team processes where potential opportunities exist, contributing to increased efficiency.
  • Support assigned team with day-to-day business activities, providing essential operational assistance.

Qualifications

  • Must be a rising senior (currently a junior in college, entering your senior year after this summer internship).
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the clean energy sector post-college.
  • Preferably possess 1+ prior internship experience (experience outside of clean energy/clean tech is acceptable).
  • Strong analytical, written, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • A proactive approach to creative problem-solving.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across multiple departments with varying priorities.
  • A commitment to embracing and living by the mission and values of Cypress Creek Renewables.

Location

The preferred location for this internship is one of our office locations. We have offices in:

  • Durham, NC
  • Washington, DC
  • New York City, NY
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Francisco, CA

Please note that we operate on a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office presence 3 days per week.

Compensation

The hourly rate for our undergraduate internships is $25/hr. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.
