About the job description
This is a detailed description for the UHG Leadership Experience (ULE) Internship, designed for select participants pursuing advanced degrees who are motivated to become future leaders.
• Program Overview: The ULE Internship is a ten-week program offering a hands-on view of the rapidly evolving healthcare marketplace. It aims to provide participants with superior, cohort-based exposure, experiences, and development opportunities.
• Location & Flexibility: The internship can be delivered in-person at UHG’s Corporate HQ in Eden Prairie, MN, or remotely from anywhere within the U.S. There is an option to travel for both program and project-related work.
• Start Date: The official start date for this position is Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
• Project Areas: Projects are scoped and assigned closer to the internship start date and will vary by business. They can range across various functions including analytics, finance, marketing, operations, product, and strategy.
• Primary Responsibilities during the Internship:
• Leading high-priority work that supports one of UHG’s core businesses.
• Gaining exposure to and knowledge of the healthcare industry, enterprise-wide businesses, functions, strategies, and senior leaders.
• Developing professional relationships and networks.
• Receiving hands-on training and support.
• Leveraging business acumen and work experience to drive transformation.
• Learning from and presenting to executives.
• Contributing to fun and engaging cohorts.
• Laying the groundwork for a meaningful and impactful career at UHG.
• Examples of Intern Projects: Specific project types include building comprehensive go-to-market strategies (e.g., for Type-2 diabetes programs across various channels), completing market sizing analyses for new products, refining and implementing digital services plans, developing comprehensive health equity strategies, and creating data-driven market expansion strategies.
• Required Qualifications:
• An undergraduate degree.
• Must be a Consortium Fellow currently pursuing an MBA or another relevant graduate degree, with a target graduation date no later than July 2027.
• A minimum of 5+ years of professional work experience.
• Permanent work authorization in the U.S.; candidates must be eligible to work without company sponsorship now or in the future (F-1 students with practical training and those requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc., will not be considered).
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Consulting and/or healthcare experience, or involvement with relevant clubs.
• Demonstrated outstanding academic achievement.
• Proven ability to articulate and solve complex problems through strategic, analytical, and creative thinking.
• Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills at all levels.
• Adaptability and comfort in ambiguous, high-impact situations.
• High emotional intelligence and a proven capacity to “get stuff done.”
• Experience in project management and navigating competing priorities.
• A champion of change and customer orientation.
• Learning/growth oriented.

• Compensation and Benefits: The annual salary for this full-time role ranges from $77,000 to $132,000. Pay is based on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, UHG offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase options, and 401k contribution (all subject to eligibility requirements).
