Trust & Estate Paralegal | Addition Management

The Tone:
This is a full-time Trust & Estate Paralegal role at Addition Management, located in New York, NY (Midtown). Addition Management is a growing law firm seeking to expand its team. This role is critical for supporting the firm’s comprehensive trust and probate administration services, ensuring seamless operations and timely client communication.

• Mission: This person owns the comprehensive support for trust and estate administration processes, ensuring accurate and timely handling of client matters and court filings.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administration Management: Oversee all facets of trust and probate administration.
• Document Preparation & Filing: Prepare and file accurate legal documents required to probate Wills and manage other miscellaneous proceedings.
• Court Liaison: Liaise with Surrogate’s Courts in New York, actively following up on probate/administration proceedings and conferring with clerks.
• Client Communication: Communicate directly with trustees, family members, and beneficiaries, providing accurate information and thoroughly documenting interactions.
• Tax Return Assistance: Assist in the preparation of federal and state estate/inheritance tax returns as necessary.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Mid-level to Senior. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred with core domain knowledge in estate planning, probate, or elder law.
• Experience: 5+ years’ experience in estate planning, probate, or elder law is required, including experience in filings with state, federal, and Surrogate Courts.
• Skills: Legal document preparation and quality control, probate and administration proceedings management, Surrogate’s Court liaison, estate/inheritance tax return assistance, and precise client communication.
• Bonus: Paralegal Certification or equivalent work experience is desired. Notary Republic or openness to becoming one is a must.
