Job Description: Trial Attorney

Join Allstate’s legal frontline and champion the defense for both our insured clients and the Company! As a Trial Attorney, you will manage a diverse caseload, including PIP/No-Fault Arbitration Hearings, bodily injury, and property damage lawsuits. Beyond the courtroom, you’ll provide vital counsel to business clients and coordinate effectively between legal teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Manage all aspects of PIP/no-fault litigation from case inception through resolution, including case evaluation, discovery, motion practice, arbitrations, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Evidence & Research: Gather and organize documents, evidence, and conduct legal research for cases. Prepare thoroughly for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Legal Research & Reporting: Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents, preparing clear summaries and reports.
  • Document Drafting: Prepare and draft various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other essential legal paperwork.
  • Client & Witness Interaction: Interview clients and witnesses, draft summaries of their statements, and maintain accurate communication records.
  • Courtroom Representation & Assistance: Attend Arbitration hearings, court hearings, depositions, and other legal proceedings. You may observe and assist as needed, and represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor changes in laws and regulations, assisting in updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
  • Professional Development: Participate actively in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and active membership in good standing with the New Jersey state bar.

Minimum Requirements

  • Legal Acumen: Successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, demonstrating the ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft clear, well-structured legal documents.
  • Time Management: Demonstrates strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Organizational Skills: Capable of organizing case files, managing legal documents, and understanding the discovery process.
  • Communication: Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
  • Ethical Conduct: Well-versed in legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
  • Negotiation: Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
  • Bonus Eligibility: This role is also eligible for a bonus plan.

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $70,100.00 – $121,475.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
