Transportation Internship Job Description:
Lowe’s 2025 Summer Transportation Internship offers a paid, project-based opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on experience within a Fortune 50 company. The internship runs from May 27th to August 1st and has the potential to convert into a full-time Transportation Sr Specialist role post-graduation. Qualified interns are eligible for Lowe’s housing benefit.
The Lowe’s Transportation team focuses on the efficient, timely, and safe movement of products throughout the supply chain. Interns will collaborate with vendors, distribution centers, and carriers to ensure product availability.
Specific responsibilities and areas of learning include:
• Content Updates: Evaluate existing transportation resources on LowesNet, identify needed updates, propose changes, and present these recommendations to transportation directors and VPs.
• Delivery Synchronization: Analyze deliveries to Lowe’s stores from various sources, develop strategies to improve synchronization, and present recommendations to leadership.
• Cost Reduction/Service Improvement: Participate in ongoing transportation analysis and projects to identify and implement programs to reduce costs or improve service.
• Customer Feedback Analysis: Analyze customer feedback (Likely To Recommend scores) for parcel and LTL deliveries, and propose improvements based on findings.
• Supply Chain Solutions: Identify performance trends and help implement plans to improve supply chain and transportation solutions, focusing on efficiency and cost optimization.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Directly interact with transportation providers, stores, vendors, Lowe’s Supply Chain, Lowes.com, merchandising, procurement, and distribution teams.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or Operations Management from an accredited university, with an expected graduation date of December 2025 or May 2026.
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, data gathering, and reporting skills.
• Excellent collaborative, innovative, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Relevant internship or leadership experience is a plus.
