About the job: Transportation Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

Woolpert is seeking multiple Transportation Engineering Interns for Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) in their Ohio offices, including Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland. This is a full-time internship position, requiring 40 hours per week, and a commitment to at least two days per week in the office.

This internship offers a real-world experience within a supportive environment, providing ample opportunities for professional and personal growth. The Transportation Engineering Intern will work closely with Woolpert’s infrastructure teams on a diverse range of transportation projects. These projects span various aspects of transportation, including traffic, roadway and pedestrian facilities, bridges and structures, and transportation planning. Interns will engage in multidisciplinary work across a variety of clients and project types, contributing to projects that directly impact local communities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work as an integral part of Woolpert’s industry-leading Transportation team.
• Gain practical experience by working on actual projects alongside Licensed Engineers who are experts in their fields.
• Assist on various project tasks such as analysis, design, plan production, and cost estimation.
• Utilize industry-leading software applications including Civil 3D and OpenRoads Designer, as well as other discipline-specific design programs.
• Collaborate as a team member, coordinating with internal teams and external subconsultants and clients.
• Perform tasks and solve problems with a significant degree of independence.

Qualifications:
While the company acknowledges that applicants are coming to learn, preferred qualifications include:
• Enrollment as a student at an accredited college or university, with a preference for at least sophomore status.
• Pursuing a Civil Engineering degree or a civil-adjacent degree.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional multitasking and time management skills.
• A strong willingness and openness to learning.
• Must be located in Ohio near one of Woolpert’s offices (Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland) or be willing to relocate at their own expense, as the position requires at least two days per week in the office.
• Applicants must already possess work authorization in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Compensation: The posted salary range for this position is USD $21.00 – USD $25.50 per hour.
