What You’ll Actually Do
• Shipment Planning: Plan and coordinate outbound shipments by selecting appropriate transportation modes such as Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Flatbed, and Small Parcel, ensuring a balance between cost efficiency and desired service levels.
• Scheduling Execution: Execute daily shipment scheduling tasks, including load tendering and coordinating delivery appointments with carriers, to ensure consistent on-time delivery performance.
• Operational Support: Provide essential daily shipment plans to support efficient distribution center labor planning, dock scheduling, and overall outbound flow operations.
• Carrier Management: Manage direct communications with transportation carriers, overseeing tender acceptance and following up on service performance to ensure reliable capacity and execution.
• Performance & Improvement: Monitor overall shipment performance, provide end-of-day reporting and visibility, identify service gaps, and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost savings.
• Cost Control & Urgent Requests: Drive the reduction of accessorial costs by minimizing TONU (Truck Ordered Not Used) charges and shipment cancellations through proactive planning and communication. Additionally, support urgent or expedited shipment requests to meet critical customer requirements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Requires a High School Diploma or GED, coupled with a solid foundational understanding of shipping processes and workflows within logistics operations.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in shipping, warehouse, or logistics operations. Additionally, 1 year of practical experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suites is required.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, strong understanding of shipping processes and workflows, and developed problem-solving abilities for operational challenges.
• Bonus: An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with various freight modes and transportation planning concepts, DOT regulations, and shipping compliance is a plus. Experience with transportation or logistics systems such as TMS, SAP, or Power BI is also advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills are beneficial.
