About the Job: Financial Crime Compliance (Reference 25000EVL)

This role is within the Transaction Monitoring Group (“TMG”), which is a surveillance unit within Financial Crime Compliance. The TMG plays a critical role in preventing financial crime by managing the Bank’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) transaction monitoring systems and processes.

Department Description (Transaction Monitoring Group – TMG):
The TMG holds centralized responsibility for Société Générale’s AML transaction monitoring systems and processes. Its core functions include:
• Managing the rules and parameters used in the automated transaction monitoring system.
Handling cases generated by the system through review, investigation, and either closure or reporting.
• Conducting other manual processes outside the monitoring system to identify and report unusual activity.

Main Accountabilities (Key Responsibilities):
The individual in this role will primarily contribute to the bank’s efforts to combat financial crime, with specific responsibilities including:
Assisting the Financial Intelligence Unit (“FIU”) in preventing the use of Société Générale facilities for money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery, corruption, and cybercrime.
• Performing reviews of negative news articles to identify potential links to financial crime in regions where SG has a presence or risk exposure. This includes reviewing ongoing negative news logs, identifying relevant names, conducting transaction searches, and determining if FIU investigations are necessary.
Assisting with the management of the FIU Portal, which involves making entries and conducting transactional searches on parties identified from news sources.
Recommending courses of action for most events encountered, while seeking guidance from a manager when analysis reveals unusual or uncommon situations.
Independently conducting documented enhanced due diligence (EDD) on individuals and entities, utilizing all available resources and applying risk-based judgment to develop findings and recommendations.
• Conducting reviews of 314(a) alerts, which are generated bi-weekly.
• Reviewing Internal Fraud Escalations received from various Business Units, leading FIU case investigations, and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARCs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) related to incidents like return of funds, business email compromise, or other fraud escalations from Global Transactions and Payments Services (“GTPS”).
Clearly, succinctly, and consistently documenting and supporting judgments, decisions, and rationale, while maintaining accurate and complete supporting documentation and records in accordance with TMG policies and procedures.
• Applying project management and organizational skills to a variety of tasks, including ad-hoc assignments.
Collaborating with the team to implement initiatives and projects sponsored and approved by management.

Required Competencies:
Strong analytical skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly synthesize approach, methodology, and rationale for raising concerns.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Preferable Competencies:
• Strong research skills.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience with SAS (case management system) and online research systems (web-based tools).
• Knowledge of geopolitics, geographies, and languages, with the ability to apply them efficiently to the Anti-Financial Crime field.

Required Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Preferable Prior Work Experience:
1-2 years of experience in Financial Crime case investigations or a similar environment.
• Experience in assisting with AML/OFAC special projects or the implementation of new/updated AML/OFAC procedures.

Required Education:
• A Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
