What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Research: Perform comprehensive legal research and prepare detailed written analyses on various traditional labor law matters.
• Manage NLRB Filings: Draft and submit responses to unfair labor practice charges filed before the National Labor Relations Board.
• Assist Negotiations: Provide crucial support and assistance during collective bargaining negotiations for employer clients.
• Advise Employers: Deliver legal advice to employers concerning union organizing efforts, the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, and other complex labor relations issues.
• Attend Key Events: Participate in significant case-related events, which may include collective bargaining sessions, labor arbitrations, and client meetings, to gain practical experience.
The Must-Haves
• Education: Must be currently enrolled in their 2nd year of law school and possess outstanding academic credentials, demonstrated by ranking in the top third of their class.
• Interest: A clear and demonstrated interest in labor law, which can be evidenced through relevant academic coursework or significant past work experience in the field.
• Skills: Exhibit solid legal research, writing, and decision-making skills; demonstrate a strong ability to think critically and effectively solve complex legal problems; show proficiency in reading, interpreting, and understanding intricate legal documents; and possess strong persuasion skills vital for legal advocacy.
