Job Description

Finance Intern | Dexian

The Tone:
This is an early career internship position at Dexian, a leading provider of staffing, IT, and workforce solutions with over 12,000 employees. This role is a crucial part of the Wholesale Loan Middle Office, a division of Wholesale Lending Services. The Finance Intern will contribute to supporting the North America Credit Trading and Syndicated Leverage Finance businesses within the Corporate and Investment Bank. The position is vital for providing essential primary and secondary trade closing support and Third Party Agency Review.

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, Newark, DE
• Team: Wholesale Loan Middle Office, a division of Wholesale Lending Services, which primarily supports the North America Credit Trading and Syndicated Leverage Finance businesses within the Corporate and Investment Bank.
• Mission: Provide primary and secondary trade closing support, as well as Third Party Agency Review within the Loan Trading Documentation team.
• Tech Stack: MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), LoanIQ, ClearPar

What You’ll Actually Do
• Trade Settlement: Work collaboratively with front office traders, sales coverage, clients, counsel, and operations to successfully settle secondary par loan trades.
• Client Relations: Establish and cultivate strong working relationships with clients and counterparts to facilitate smooth trade processes.
• Portfolio Management: Manage a heavy trade portfolio across various lines of business, ensuring a clean and organized aging profile.
• Document Review: Review LSTA (Loan Syndications and Trading Association) standard documents, other legal documents including trade confirms, and credit agreements for assignability language.
• Reporting & Escalation: Prepare daily and weekly MIS reporting to track the status of open items, measure risk, and escalate issues to relevant stakeholders when necessary.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in syndicated loans.
• Experience: Proficiency in using MS Office Suite for documentation and analysis, with an ability to manage heavy trade portfolios.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to take initiative, self-motivate, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Bonus: Familiarity with loan-based software such as LoanIQ or ClearPar, experience with LSTA standard documentation and its terms and conditions, knowledge of the trade lifecycle or experience supporting a trading business, and prior understanding of loan products or trading operations.
