Total Arts Day Camp: Summer Internship 2026
Description
In this internship, you will assist the Total Arts Day Camp team with tasks related to running week-long summer art camps for children at Rochester Art Center in Rochester, Minnesota. Total Arts Day Camp (TADC) is one of the longest running youth arts programs in the state, initiated in 1971. This is an unpaid internship. TADC 2026
Internship Goals
- Learn about the planning and implementation of art museum programming
- Gain an understanding of arts education and community outreach
- Get hands-on experience with students in an art studio/classroom setting
- Learn to give interactive, age-appropriate gallery tours to art camp participants
- Work with artists and art educators to promote an appreciation for the arts
Intern Responsibilities
- Work closely with TADC instructors, guest artists and museum staff to prepare for and facilitate art activities
- Study and learn about works of art exhibited at Rochester Art Center
- Explore inquiry-based tour techniques and give children’s tours as needed
- Supervise and encourage TADC participants during camp activities and be a role model for young volunteers
- Complete various other assigned museum education and program-related tasks
- Submit a one-page reflection on the experience at the end of the internship
Timeframe & Benefits
Internships are one-month in length. Applicants may apply for one or both months:
- Option A: Monday, June 1 – Friday, June 26, 2026 (TADC Sessions 1-3)
- Option B: Monday, July 6 – Friday, July 31, 2026 (TADC Sessions 4-6)
- Interns can expect to work approximately 35 hours per week
- During camp weeks, working hours will be M – F, 8:45 AM – 3:45 PM
- Interns are unpaid and must provide their own transportation
- Interns will be provided with local housing, if requested
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Proficient in English
- Comfortable working with youth
- Enthusiastic about museums and community-based work
- Flexible, punctual, dependable and willing to learn new skills
Preferred (not required)
- Experience with Google Workspace
- Experience with public speaking or leadership of small groups
- Experience with photography, video recording and editing
