Job Description
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Production Operations in Grand Prairie, Texas, is seeking a new Tool Designer to join their team. The selected candidate will collaborate with tooling operations, production, and program engineers to design and develop custom tools and equipment used in the manufacturing of missiles and missile systems.
Responsibilities:
• Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement industrial machinery and equipment for the manufacturing of offensive and defensive weapons systems.
• Tooling Design: Design tooling like dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, prototype models, and machine attachments for production or experimental use.
• Design Considerations: Factor in safety, accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements when designing tools.
• 3D Modeling: Utilize 3D CAD software (Creo) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawing packages.
• Tooling Review and Rework: Review defective tooling and determine rework solutions.
• Process Improvement: Provide input on manufacturing methods and process improvements.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Proficient in using 3D CAD software (CREO, SolidWorks, Catia, etc.).
• Interest in exploring a tool design career path.
Desired Skills:
• Pro E experience.
• Knowledge of tool concept and design.
• Experience with tooling and tool fabrication.
• Familiarity with GD&T.
Security Clearance:
This position requires a government security clearance, and candidates must be U.S. citizens for consideration.
Work Schedule:
• 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
• Part-time remote telework is available, with the specific schedule discussed during the hiring process.
• Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules to provide employees with flexibility.
