Job Description: Tool Designer
Location: Grand Prairie, Texas
Department: Missiles and Fire Control Production Operations
Summary:
Lockheed Martin is seeking a skilled Tool Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing custom tools and equipment used in the manufacturing of missiles and missile systems.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement industrial machinery and equipment for manufacturing offensive and defensive weapons systems.
• Design tooling such as dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, prototype model production, and machine attachments for both production and experimental use.
• Optimize tool designs considering factors like safety, accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
• Utilize 3D CAD software (Creo) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawing packages.
• Analyze and determine rework solutions for defective tooling.
• Contribute input on manufacturing methods and process improvements.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (examples: CREO, SolidWorks, Catia, etc.).
• Strong interest in exploring a tool design career path.
Desired Skills:
• Experience with Pro E software.
• Knowledge of tool concept and design.
• Experience with tooling and tool fabrication.
• Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Security Clearance: This position requires a government security clearance, and applicants must be U.S. citizens to be considered.
Remote Work: This position offers a part-time remote work schedule. The specific arrangement will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin offers flexible work schedules, including standard 40-hour work weeks and condensed schedules with additional time off. This position is scheduled as 4×10 hour days with 3 days off per week.
