Job Description:
HealthCorps is seeking a creative, friendly, and self-motivated individual to serve as a TMHH Mentor in Ventura County, CA. The TMHH (Teens Make Health Happen) Mentor will implement an innovative wellness club in 2-3 high schools, empowering teens to make healthier choices for themselves and their families. As a near-peer mentor, the TMHH Mentor will work with local middle and high school students over the course of the semester, gaining hands-on experience leading the “Teens Make Health Happen” club.
Responsibilities Include:
• Develop Strong Relationships: Collaborate with teen wellness leaders and site partners to ensure effective delivery of HealthCorps’ programming across 2-3 school sites. Participate in professional development and leadership opportunities provided by the organization.
• Assess Your Schools’ Needs and Progress: Research health inequities in the schools you serve and measure your impact by completing needs assessments, reporting, and tracking your work.
• Manage Teens Make Health Happen Clubs: Plan and implement the successful delivery of the HealthCorps’ program offering, Teens Make Health Happen, for 6-8+ hours each week throughout the semester. Be present at assigned school sites/campuses for 3-4 hours each week for instructional purposes.
• Share and Make Aware: Host Café O Yea demonstrations at each of your sites monthly and support with regional events. Support and contribute to HealthCorps’ social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) by sharing program highlights, stories of impact, and photos that will shine a bright light on your students.
• Commit to the HealthCorps Mission: Prioritize health and wellness on a daily basis and work to ensure that relevant, local health resources are accessible for all students and staff at your respective sites.
• Represent HealthCorps in Oxnard: Embody and extend the organization and its values, both inside and outside your sites. Be an asset in outreach efforts that connect teens, staff, and community members to HealthCorps resources and materials.
