Job Description, Detailed:

Summary:
This job provides support to outpatient services. The role is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of therapy treatment spaces, equipment, and supplies. It also involves providing administrative support, including filing, mail distribution, data entry, and creating therapy materials. Additionally, the position offers direct support during treatment sessions under the guidance of a licensed therapist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Therapy Support:
• Manages therapy supply inventory, including purchasing and restocking.
• Assists with transporting children between therapy and the classroom.
• Creates therapy materials like visual aids and communication tools, as directed by therapists.
• Checks children out of class for fittings or measurements of orthotics or equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, standers).
• Prepares, assists with, and cleans up after group meetings (social skills, life skills, feeding therapy) or therapy sessions, under therapist direction.
• Ensures outlet covers are in place in Outpatient Services spaces and hallways.
• Records daily refrigerator/freezer temperatures in therapy treatment rooms when applicable.

Equipment Management:
• Maintains a master list of therapy equipment in storage, updating it as equipment moves.
• Organizes therapy equipment and space, ensuring items are accessible and properly stored after use.
• Cleans various equipment including standers, walkers, wheelchairs, and harnesses.
• Monitors hallways to ensure therapy equipment storage does not obstruct traffic flow.

Orthotics Support:
• Provides limited support to the Orthotics technician, therapists, or durable medical equipment vendors, as directed by therapists.

Cleaning and Disinfection:
• Cleans and disinfects the evaluation room before each evaluation.
• Daily disinfects and cleans therapy mats, toys, and equipment, returning them to their designated locations.
• Cleans splints and orthotics.
• Ensures laundry is cleaned daily and distributed to all necessary locations.
• Prepares food items for feeding therapy and cleans/disinfects treatment areas post-session.
• Maintains cleaning supply inventory, including purchasing and restocking.

Clerical:
• Assembles new charts for incoming infant monitoring and therapy patients.
• Disassembles files and processes them for storage upon patient discharge.
• Assists with data entry as delegated.
• Aids in maintaining content on the therapy bulletin board.

Compliance/HIPAA:
• The employee must comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Easter Seals Arkansas.
• Access to client protected health information (PHI) is limited to the therapy working file for directly served persons; no other PHI access is permitted unless approved by a Supervisor or Privacy Officer.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
• Must be currently enrolled in a graduate therapy program at UAMS.

Competencies:
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse individuals (clients with varied abilities, employees with diverse experience/knowledge).
• Ability to be self-directed, creative, and to take initiative.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft and Google applications (Word/Google Docs, Excel/Google Sheets, Gmail).

Physical Demands:
The role regularly requires standing, using hands for fine motor skills (finger, handle, feel), reaching, talking, or hearing. Frequent walking is also required. Occasionally, the employee may need to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, or smell. The position involves regularly lifting/moving up to ten pounds, frequently up to twenty-five pounds, and occasionally up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The work environment typically has a moderate noise level. The employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
