About the Job

Position Summary: The Detailer

The Detailer plays a crucial role in supporting the TMBC Sales, Service, and Parts operations by performing various detailing and transportation tasks for new and pre-owned boats, motors, trailers, and ATVs.

Essential Functions:

  • Supports a strong commitment to world-class customer service, ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Performs thorough washing, cleaning, waxing, and vacuuming of interiors and exteriors of boats for scheduled customer pickups, display, and service customer units.
  • Participates in the unloading of incoming boats, motors, trailers, and ATVs using a forklift or tractor, then transports them to various areas within the dealership, including the storage lot, outside display, showroom floor, or customer delivery area.
  • Confirms packing list or invoice details for all boat loads or other product deliveries.
  • Transports and stages customer boats and ATVs to service, rigging, and storage yards by moving units from one location to another as necessary.
  • Maintains an updated list of cleaning supplies and informs the Service Manager or Service Lead of needed items to ensure continuous operation.
  • Assists the Rigger and Service Specialist with PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) verification processes.
  • Informs the Service Manager or Service Lead of any unit concerns or required repairs discovered during detailing or transport.
  • Performs grounds and facility maintenance as required to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Keeps the work area neat and clean, adhering to safety and organizational standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to support dealership operations.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent experience is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ongoing verification of driving eligibility will be conducted to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Must be at least 21 years old to qualify for this position.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Ability to complete simple math calculations accurately.
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with both customers and fellow outfitters.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must maintain required criteria to operate company vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Ability to safely operate a Fork Lift and tractor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.

Independent Judgment:

Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, utilizing established procedures and innovation. The Detailer chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems, with occasional independent judgment required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to improve work procedures, policies, and practices.
