Test Intern – Hardware & Firmware (AI/ML Driven Recruitment)
About the Role
Our Test Interns play a significant role within a team of engineers and industry professionals, contributing to the development and testing of hardware and firmware. This work is crucial for optimizing industrial operations and helping our customers bring the Connected Enterprise to life. As an intern, you will gain comprehensive exposure to the company’s business structure and its impact.
This role offers two distinct categories, allowing you to specialize or gain exposure across both:
Hardware Test Intern
If you are passionate about the physical components and their rigorous validation, you will be involved in:
- Developing test requirements and executing hardware verification test plans.
- Performing board-level functional testing.
- Conducting EMC validation.
- Ensuring Certification Agency compliance (e.g., UL, ATEX, IECEX).
- Validating Functional Safety according to standards like IEC 61508.
- Performing programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
- Contributing to associated product design documentation and test reports.
Firmware Test Intern
For those who enjoy pushing products to their limits and ensuring they meet rigid industrial standards, your activities will include:
- Designing and developing scripts for automating test procedures.
- Documenting test procedures thoroughly.
- Executing test procedures for verification of product functionality (both manual and automated).
- Creating comprehensive test reports.
- Assisting with lab audit and improvement activities.
- Helping with the build and commissioning of test firmware and hardware platforms.
Qualifications & Skills
To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following:
Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field from an accredited college or university.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Basic programming proficiency in languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
- Basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including:
- Microprocessors
- Digital logic devices
- Analog and/or DC-power conversion
- Programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
- Experience with Power Electronics or motors.
- Experience with design capture tools.
- Ability to work effectively with schematic drawings.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as CAD, Creoparametric, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, Matlab.
- Experience within industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
- Experience using Agile methodology.
Compensation
The compensation for this role ranges from $22 to $32 per hour.
