Job Title: Test Intern (Hardware or Firmware Focus)

About the Role:
Join a dynamic team of engineers and industry professionals as a Test Intern, playing a significant role in the development and testing of hardware and firmware. This position offers a comprehensive immersion into the company’s business structure and its mission to enable the Connected Enterprise for customers, specifically optimizing industrial operations. You will contribute to cutting-edge projects and gain invaluable experience in a high-tech industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The Test Intern roles are categorized into two specialized areas:

Hardware Test Intern:
Develop Test Requirements: Create detailed test requirements for various hardware components.
Execute Verification Test Plans: Conduct hardware verification testing, including:
• Board-level functional testing.
• EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) validation.
• Certification Agency compliance testing (UL, ATEX, IECEX).
• Functional Safety compliance (IEC 61508).
Prototype Analysis & Troubleshooting: Perform programming, in-depth analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
Documentation & Reporting: Contribute to associated product design documentation and comprehensive test reports.

Firmware Test Intern:
Automated Test Scripting: Design and develop scripts for automating test procedures.
Test Procedure Documentation: Meticulously document all test procedures.
Execution of Test Procedures: Perform both manual and automated execution of test procedures to verify product functionality.
Test Report Creation: Generate detailed test reports.
Lab Audit & Improvement: Assist with laboratory audit and improvement activities.
Platform Commissioning: Aid in the build and commissioning of test firmware and hardware platforms.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field from an accredited college or university.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Programming: Basic proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
Circuit Theory: Fundamental knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including:
• Microprocessors.
• Digital logic devices.
• Analog and/or DC-power conversion.
• Programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs).
Design Tools:
• Experience with design capture tools.
• Ability to work with schematic drawings.
• Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creoparametic, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, Matlab.

Relevant Experience:
• Experience with Power Electronics or motors.
• Experience with industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
• Experience using Agile methodology.

Compensation:
The compensation for this role is $22 – $32 per hour.
