Job Title: Test Intern (Hardware/Firmware)

About the Role:

As a Test Intern, you will join a dynamic team of engineers and industry professionals dedicated to developing and testing cutting-edge hardware and firmware solutions aimed at optimizing industrial operations. Our test roles are primarily categorized into two areas:

1. Hardware Test Intern Responsibilities:

  • Develop Test Requirements: Collaborate to define and document robust test requirements.
  • Execute Hardware Verification Test Plans: Perform comprehensive testing, including:
    • Board level functional testing.
    • EMC validation.
    • Certification Agency compliance (UL, ATEX, IECEX).
    • Functional Safety verification (IEC 61508).
  • Electronic Hardware Analysis: Perform programming, in-depth analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Documentation: Contribute to the creation of associated product design documentation and detailed test reports.

2. Firmware Test Intern Responsibilities:

If you have a passion for pushing products to their limits to ensure they meet the rigid standards required for industrial components, this role is for you. Key activities include:

  • Automation Script Design & Development: Create and develop scripts for automating test procedures.
  • Test Procedure Documentation: Meticulously document all test procedures.
  • Execution of Test Procedures: Perform both manual and automated verification of product functionality.
  • Test Report Creation: Generate comprehensive test reports.
  • Lab Improvement: Assist with lab audit and improvement initiatives.
  • Platform Support: Aid in the build and commissioning of test firmware and hardware platforms.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Programming Skills: Basic proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
  • Circuit Theory & Operation: Foundational knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including an understanding of microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, and programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs).
  • Specialized Experience (preferred):
    • Experience with Power Electronics or motors.
    • Experience with design capture tools.
    • Ability to interpret and work with schematic drawings.
  • Tool Familiarity (preferred): Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creoparametic, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, and Matlab.
  • Industrial Automation (advantageous): Experience with industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
  • Methodology: Experience with Agile methodology.

Compensation:

The compensation for this role ranges from $22 to $32 per hour.
