Job Title: Test Intern (Hardware/Firmware)

About the Role:

As a Test Intern, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team of engineers and industry professionals. Your primary focus will be on the development and testing of hardware and firmware, with the ultimate goal of optimizing industrial operations. The Test Intern roles are divided into two distinct, yet equally critical, categories:

Key Responsibilities:

Hardware Test Intern

If your passion lies in the physical components and intricate details of electronics, this role offers hands-on experience in:

  • Developing comprehensive test requirements.
  • Executing hardware verification test plans for:
    • Board-level functional testing.
    • EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) validation.
    • Certification Agency compliance (e.g., UL, ATEX, IECEX).
    • Functional Safety compliance (IEC 61508).
  • Performing programming, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Contributing to associated product design documentation and test reports.

Firmware Test Intern

For those who enjoy pushing products to their limits and ensuring they meet the rigid standards of industrial components, this role involves:

  • Design and development of scripts for automating test procedures.
  • Documenting detailed test procedures.
  • Execution of test procedures for verification of product functionality (both manual and automated).
  • Creation of comprehensive test reports.
  • Assistance with lab audit and improvement activities.
  • Support with the build and commissioning of test firmware and hardware platforms.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar relevant field from an accredited college or university.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic programming proficiency in languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
  • Fundamental knowledge of circuit theory and operation, including:
    • Microprocessors
    • Digital logic devices
    • Analog and/or DC-power conversion
    • Programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs)
  • Experience with Power Electronics or motors.
  • Proficiency in working with schematic drawings.

Tools & Methodologies:

  • Experience with design capture tools.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as CAD, Creoparametric, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, Matlab.
  • Experience with industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
  • Familiarity with using Agile methodology.

Compensation:

The compensation for this challenging and rewarding internship role ranges from $22 to $32 per hour.
