Job Title: Test Intern (Hardware/Firmware)

About the Role:

Our Test Interns play a pivotal role within a dynamic team of engineers and industry professionals. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the development and rigorous testing of both hardware and firmware solutions aimed at optimizing industrial operations. You will gain comprehensive exposure to our company’s business structure and understand firsthand how we empower our customers to realize the vision of the Connected Enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

This internship offers two distinct but interconnected tracks:

1. Hardware Test Intern:

  • Develop comprehensive test requirements and execute detailed hardware verification test plans.
  • Conduct specialized testing, including:
    • Board level functional testing.
    • EMC validation (Electromagnetic Compatibility).
    • Certification Agency compliance (e.g., UL, ATEX, IECEX).
    • Functional Safety compliance (e.g., IEC 61508).
  • Perform hands-on programming, in-depth analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Actively contribute to associated product design documentation and generate thorough test reports.

2. Firmware Test Intern:

If you thrive on pushing products to their limits to ensure they meet the rigid standards of industrial components, this role is for you. Responsibilities include:

  • Design and develop robust scripts for automating test procedures.
  • Document all test procedures meticulously.
  • Execute test procedures for comprehensive verification of product functionality (both manual and automated).
  • Create detailed test reports summarizing findings and outcomes.
  • Assist with lab audit and improvement activities to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Support the build and commissioning of critical test firmware and hardware platforms.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar relevant field from an accredited college or university.
  • Programming Skills: Basic proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or LabVIEW.
  • Circuit Theory & Hardware:
    • Basic knowledge of circuit theory and operation.
    • Familiarity with microprocessors, digital logic devices, analog and/or DC-power conversion, and programmable devices (CPLDs, FPGAs).
  • Specialized Experience:
    • Experience with Power Electronics or motors is highly valued.
    • Experience with design capture tools.
    • Ability to interpret and work with schematic drawings.
  • Software Tools Familiarity: Familiarity with tools such as CAD, Creo Parametric, ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), 3D Modeling, SAP, and Matlab.
  • Industrial Automation: Experience with industrial automation environments, including PLC or drives programming.
  • Methodology: Understanding and experience with Agile methodology.

Compensation:

The compensation for this challenging and rewarding role is $22-32 hourly.
