The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Central Transport, located in various locations nationwide. Central Transport is a privately owned Less-than-Truckload (LTL) carrier, servicing manufacturing and retail companies of all sizes across the country. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a terminal dock, directly contributing to the company’s ability to provide immediate and essential services to its wide network of clientele. By leading a team and managing daily operations, the Operations Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining the high standards of service and operational excellence Central Transport is known for.

• Team: Leads a team of up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel.
• Mission: Ensure efficient and compliant inbound operations and freight management to meet production schedules and exceed customer service expectations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Oversee: Oversee inbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock, managing unloading, forklift traffic, and proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Lead: Lead and provide accountability to a team of up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve designated production schedules.
• Optimize: Utilize independent judgment to build loads based on available labor and freight levels, ensuring proper cube and weight of trailers during loading.
• Monitor: Monitor dock production, employee hours, and overtime to ensure facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met or exceeded.
• Ensure: Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards and ensure company operational model compliance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level with a thorough understanding of the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) trucking industry.
• Experience: Prior management, dispatch, and dock experience is required, preferably within the LTL trucking industry.
• Skills: Strong leadership skills encompassing hiring, coaching, counseling, training, and mentoring employees; high aptitude for technology; ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented; excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills; capability to work under tight time constraints in a high-pressure environment with multiple priorities.
• Bonus: An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
