Operations Supervisor | Central Transport

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Central Transport, one of the nation’s most reliable and technologically advanced LTL (Less-than-Truckload) carriers. The company, privately owned and operating for almost 90 years with over 200 locations, prides itself on continuous expansions like 25 new next-day hubs and maintaining a modern fleet with an average age of 2.5 years. This Operations Supervisor position is vital for overseeing the daily inbound operations of a designated terminal dock section, directly impacting the efficiency and service quality provided to a wide network of clientele. The role ensures that production schedules are met and a safe, high-quality work environment is maintained, contributing to the company’s record-breaking business levels and continued success.

• Pay: $60000–$75000 yearly + up to 10% in bonuses

• Mission: Oversee and optimize inbound terminal dock operations, ensuring efficient freight handling, on-time deliveries, and compliance with operational standards.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Oversight: Oversee inbound operations for your designated section of the terminal dock, including the process of loading, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Team Management: Manage a team of up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve designated production schedules and support a culture of excellence in quality of product.
• Efficiency and Logistics: Review and revise driver routes to increase efficiencies while monitoring a changing workload and maintaining awareness of freight that is in transit.
• Performance & Safety: Ensure facility Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals are met and/or exceeded, and maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Driver Support: Assist and report issues that drivers face when they’re on the road, such as vehicle breakdowns like a flat tire.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experience in a transportation, cross-docking, or shipping and receiving environment.
• Experience: Demonstrated professional experience, preferably within the LTL industry, coupled with strong leadership qualities.
• Skills: High aptitude for technology, the ability to multi-task while being detail-oriented, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred but not required.
