Position Title: Technology Systems Design Co-op
Position Overview:
CMTA offers a robust co-op program designed for ambitious college students pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Architectural Engineering. This program provides an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself for one or more semesters in the intricate world of consulting engineering. Our co-ops gain industry-competitive skills through a hands-on environment, working collaboratively within a team, and receiving expert training from Professional Engineers in industry-standard software like AutoCAD and Revit. You will be empowered to create real construction drawings for actual CMTA projects, building a tangible portfolio of work.
This specific co-op position offers a unique and invaluable opportunity for hands-on training in Technology Systems design. We are seeking a candidate with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of thriving both independently and as a vital team member. Our experienced engineers will meticulously guide you through the processes of designing and implementing a diverse range of technology systems, including but not limited to security, audio visual, IT infrastructure, and IT active equipment. This is your chance to work on some of the most challenging and complex technology projects in our industry, becoming an important contributor to our design team. You will learn firsthand how various technology systems seamlessly integrate to provide the most secure and high-performing buildings. This position requires an onsite presence at our Lexington office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Produce detailed layouts and equipment specifications for comprehensive technology systems within buildings.
• Develop one-line diagrams and schematics, translating complex system designs into clear visual representations.
• Actively assist the design team in assembling organized and professional sets of construction drawings.
• Contribute to data collection and/or field verification efforts, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
• Collaborate closely with designers and engineers, playing a crucial role in developing all aspects of a project from conception to completion.
Requirements:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), with a strong preference for sophomores (2nd year) or juniors (3rd year).
• Demonstrated strong interest in Technology Systems and Electrical Engineering.
• Preference for candidates with prior experience in designing, installing, or servicing audio-visual, network, or security systems and/or equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
• Revit experience is highly preferred.
• Possession of strong interpersonal and communication skills, essential for effective teamwork and client interaction.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Must be located in or attending school in or around central KY, with the ability to travel locally for fieldwork as required.
