Job Description: Technology Internship

CSX offers a 10-week summer internship program for students pursuing degrees in computer science, information systems, or related fields. The program provides interns with a deep immersion into CSX’s Technology department, offering hands-on experience, learning opportunities, and the chance to build professional networks.

Program Details:

Dates: May 27, 2025 – August 1, 2025
Location: Jacksonville, Florida (hybrid or onsite work)
Duration: 10 weeks
Compensation: Competitive hourly pay
Housing: Optional intern housing provided (subject to eligibility criteria)

Internship Responsibilities:

Interns will be placed on a technology team based on their skills and interests. Possible teams include:

Applications Development: Angular and Java web development
Operations Research: Mathematical modeling and optimization
Data Science & Analytics: Data analysis and insights
Cybersecurity: Information security and risk management
Agile Delivery: Project management and software development methodologies
Infrastructure: Automation, Cloud, and IT Operations
User Experience: Design and user interaction
IT Operations: System maintenance and support
Integrations/API: Connecting systems and data flows
Project Management: Planning and execution of projects
Innovation: Robotics, drones, and emerging technologies
Service Support: Customer support and technical assistance

Key Responsibilities:

• Actively contribute to a dynamic and agile team environment
• Adhere to best practices for developing and maintaining secure systems
• Conduct root-cause analysis to improve reliability and efficiency
• Engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure value delivery

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4-point scale)
• For Operations Research internships, a PhD program in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or Industrial Engineering is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cumulative GPA of 3.3 (on a 4-point scale)
• Within 18 months of graduation
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in:
• Programming concepts and technologies (Java, C++, JavaScript, Angular, React, jQuery)
• Relational and/or non-relational database concepts
• Enterprise platforms for administration or low-code/no-code development
• Machine learning, machine vision, and generative AI concepts and tools
• Agile, DevOps, cybersecurity, and integration practices
• Strong collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and influence skills
• Problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills
