TECHNICIAN, BIOMEDICAL I
The Biomedical Equipment Technician I works under the direction of senior personnel to assure that all clinical equipment technologies in assigned areas are operating safely and accurately. The Technician performs safety checks, corrective and planned maintenance, calibrates, and maintains all types of basic medical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems. The Technician provides support both on-site and remotely to a hospital, service center location, or within an assigned territory.
Essential Functions
• Responds expeditiously to calls from clinical departments and/or customers to evaluate and rectify valid operator complaints and concerns.
• Repairs, installs, maintains, calibrates, and inspects a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic, clinical instrumentation, and equipment.
• Performs planned maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems.
• Diagnoses, corrects, and repairs system and equipment malfunctions.
• Maintains an orderly and functional working environment, ensuring tools and test equipment are calibrated and are in good working order before use.
• Participates in assigned on-call services in accordance with contractual guidelines and/or departmental policies.
• Has flexibility to work augmented shifts based on the unit’s needs to meet client’s contractual requirements.
• Researches and initiates orders for repair parts, working with the supervisor and/or the Technical Resource Center; demonstrates ability to effectively find second-source parts.
• Provides accurate and timely database management of the CMMS in accordance with the company’s Quality Management System and related policies and procedures.
• Schedules and oversees third-party service as necessary.
• Participates in huddles, meetings, seminars, training, workshops, and conferences as required.
• Learns, understands, and complies with all government, regulatory, industry, company, and client Policies and Procedures, and subsequent updates.
• Completes all required training (e.g., skills-based, client, work-related, certification).
• Performs other duties as assigned that are intrinsic to the successful operation of the account and the company.
Currently pursuings
Education
• Associates degree in biomedical equipment technology, electronic equipment technology, or military training preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
• Certification(s) preferred (e.g., CABT, A+).
Experience
• Entry-level experience servicing clinical/patient care equipment in a hospital, clinic, or service environment as an intern, employee, contractor, or Co-Op.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk, stand, or sit for prolonged periods.
• Position requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and/or lifting up to 50lbs.
