This position is for a Technical Writer within a team that provides a wide array of technical documentation written to Military Specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Developing change packages for US Air Force Technical Orders (TOs) and US Army Technical Manuals (TMs).
• Writing and editing repair procedures for all levels of maintenance.
• Interfacing with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify and understand technical concepts and develop courses of action to ensure project completion on time and within budget.

• Familiarity with the layout, design and structure of Organizational, Intermediate and Depot Level Technical Manuals (TMs), including sections on Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and software description documents
• Willingness to work overtime, as required
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
• Working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, or equivalent
• Proficient with Microsoft Teams and Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)
• Ability to write using clear and concise language that adheres to customer-established standards and conventions
• Ability to write technical content for maintenance technical manuals, including installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures
• Ability to acquire and verify subject matter content through interviews, observations, and reference materials
• Ability to obtain a Gov’t Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge of DoD specifications i.e. S1000D
• Experience in HTML/SGML/XML editing software and Arbortext Editor or equivalent XML editing tool
Additional Information:
• This position requires a government security clearance, US citizenship is required for consideration.
• Clearance Level: Secret
• Full-time Remote Telework, with potential for travel to a Lockheed Martin office for meetings.
• Schedule: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week
• Annual base salary range in California and New York (excluding major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, or Washington DC is $45,200 – $86,600.
• Annual base salary range in major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $52,000 – $98,000.
