Job Description: Technical Support Intern
This is a part-time (20 hours/week), 6-month internship for a Technical Support Intern located in CoreSite’s downtown Denver office (not remote). The intern will assist the Technical Support Specialists with a wide array of IT tasks, providing support to both internal teams and end-users.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing end-user support for computers, printers, phone systems, and general enterprise IT needs.
• Assisting with computer/peripheral inventory management, organization, shipping, receiving, and data entry.
• Offering deskside support and troubleshooting operational, hardware, application, or network connectivity problems.
• Setting up desktops/laptops, software, and access for new hires.
• Enhancing and updating documentation on business processes and technologies.
• Assisting other IT teams (compliance, information security, systems, and network) with tasks and projects.
Technical Skills Exposure and Development:
The internship offers exposure to and foundational experience in the following areas:
• Tech Support: Active Directory (user creation, distribution lists, security groups), Office 365 administration, IP phone configuration, software imaging and deployment, remote user support, hardware/software troubleshooting, information security best practices, visual/audio support, ticketing systems, and time management.
• Systems: Physical and virtual server builds and management, storage area networks (SAN), Windows and Linux server operating systems, virtualization, and common corporate applications.
• Network: WAN routing, Layer 2 switch configuration, VLAN configuration, wireless network concepts, network device tracking and troubleshooting, and physical network cabling.
Qualifications:
• Junior or Senior (Senior preferred) enrolled in a college or trade school program with a technology or IT focus.
• Ability to work in-person in the Denver office 3-5 days/week during normal business hours.
• Strong team and customer service orientation.
• Ability to learn and follow predefined support processes.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Microsoft products (Windows 10, Office Suite/O365), general networking, and hardware (desktops, laptops, printers) is a plus.
• IT certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, A+, Security+) are beneficial.
Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly rate is $20-$25. Benefits are offered to employees working over 20 hours per week and include comprehensive health insurance, 401k with matching, paid time off, paid holidays, and various other perks. A background check and drug test are required.
