Job Description: Technical Operations Co-Op Intern

United Airlines offers paid internships with potential for course credit (depending on university guidelines) and a competitive benefits package including medical insurance and space-available travel privileges. The Technical Operations Co-op program provides hands-on experience working alongside professionals in various engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities: Interns will collaborate with Technical Operations (TO) professionals, tackling real-world problems and gaining industry knowledge. Specific responsibilities vary depending on placement, but could include:

• Providing aircraft engineering support for line and check aircraft.
• Reviewing, evaluating, and resolving issues related to manufacturer bulletins, management requests, and regulatory requirements on Airbus/Boeing aircraft.
• Preparing cost analyses for projects.
• Investigating and resolving non-conformances stemming from in-service failures or maintenance incidents.
• Process optimization and identifying gaps for mitigation.

Potential Placements: Internship placements are throughout the United Airlines system, with locations in Houston, TX or Chicago, IL, depending on the project and team. Possible teams include Line & Base Engineering, Interiors Engineering, Avionics, Powerplant Engineering, Structures, Reliability, and Digital Fleet Management.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 12 semester hours completed in core degree coursework.
• Rising junior (at minimum) when the internship begins.
• Availability for a 5-6 month co-op starting in January.
• Ability to travel without restrictions (work-related travel may be required).
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
