About Company: Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 (BRC13), a subsidiary of Pencor, is an Equal Opportunity Employer. They offer internships to provide practical, “on-the-job” experience in the communications field.
Job Description: BRC13 is seeking Technical News Interns to become working members of the news team. The internship provides hands-on experience and skill development in various roles including:
• Videographer: Accompanying videographers on assignments and shooting video.
• Technical Director: Learning to direct live newscasts.
• Graphics Coordinator: Developing shoulder boxes and graphics for newscasts; Editing bumpers and teases.
• Tapes Coordinator.
• General News Team Member: Taking part and bringing ideas to daily news meetings; Running teleprompter or studio camera for live newscasts; Editing video; Other duties as assigned.
The internship aims to implement concepts learned in college, giving interns a tangible product to showcase their abilities. Interns gain experience that other companies might not offer.
Important Details:
• Location: Lehighton, Pennsylvania (main studio at 936 Elm Street)
• Schedule: Variable shifts, typically 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM on weekdays (2-5 days a week depending on college requirements and availability).
• Internship Periods:
• Summer: May-August (Interviews begin in March)
• Fall: September-December (Interviews begin in June)
• Spring: January – April (Interviews begin in October)
• Important Notes: Interns will not work in any on-air capacity, background check and drug testing are required.
Qualifications:
• Must have completed at least one year of college.
• Broadcast Journalism or equivalent communications majors preferred.
• Established residency in Pennsylvania.
• Valid PA Driver’s License and good driving record.
• Writing Skills.
• Video Editing Skills.
• Production Skills.
• Reporting Skills.
• Videography Skills.
• Camera Operation Skills.
• Operations Technology.
